“Will my insurance cover my consultation?

At More Than Milk we feel transparency is important. We understand that lack of insurance coverage for lactation services can be a financial barrier for families. This is precisely why we work directly with The Lactation Network, a third-party billing company, who know the in’s and out’s of lactation coverage. While we cannot guarantee your insurance will cover our services, we are willing to help you seek coverage and/or reimbursement. We understand the importance of reducing this barrier and the positive impact it can have on the quality and consistency of your care. We want you to understand your rights and feel empowered in the choices you make for your family without having to worry about the financial aspect.

Blue Cross Blue Shield - Cigna - Humana PPO-Anthem - PNOA

Patients with PPO plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Anthem, or Provider Network of America may click the button below or scan the QR code to begin the process of determining your coverage through The Lactation Network. This registration link will take you to directly to The Lactation Network’s patient registration page. Please verify that you are submitting a request for Peoria Lactation LLC. Once you submit your request, The Lactation Network will contact us directly to inform us of your coverage. We will then reach out to you to schedule your appointment. Most clients who are approved will receive 6 pre-approved visits, one of which can be used as a prenatal lactation educational visit! You will not be responsible for a co-pay and you will not receive a bill from us for your care.

Tricare - Aetna - Other

We are currently working towards contracting with Tricare and Aetna. We anticipate that we will be able to submit claims by the end of 2023. If you have an insurance policy other than what is listed, our services still may be covered as an out-of-network provider. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to review your options.

Payment for Services

Until we receive confirmation that we are authorized as an in-network provider, payment for services will be due the day of your consultation.

All of our clients will receive a SUPERBILL that can be submitted to their insurance company. This will allow you to seek reimbursement for our services.

Our promise to you…

We promise to keep you informed about the options available to you. We expect to be in-network with several insurance companies by the end of 2023.

We will also continue to advocate for lactation services to be covered.

We believe in reducing financial barriers for families. If you are in need of lactation support and finances are a barrier for you - please reach out.

Please also note:

In 2010, The Affordable Care Act (ACA) expanded Women’s Preventative Services to include breastfeeding support, supplies, and counseling at no co-payment, co-insurance or deductible for these services on plans that are compliant with the ACA. This means that the lactation services we provide should be covered and/or reimbursed as it is written into law. Some insurance companies are grandfathered in and do not have to abide by this law. Most insurance companies have actually implemented this law into practice and pay claims consistently, but unfortunately some do not. Our goal is to figure out which insurance companies cover lactation services and which ones do not so that we can work towards holding them accountable.
